Step Infill Installation – A Cost‑Effective Alternative to a Curved Stairlift

For this installation, the customer was advised elsewhere that they needed a curved stairlift due to the shape of their staircase and the raised landing area. Curved stairlifts are often far more expensive, so our team carried out a full assessment to see whether a safer and more affordable option was possible.

To avoid the cost of a curved rail, our engineer designed and built a custom step infill at the top of the staircase. This infill levels the landing, creating a safe and comfortable step‑off point. By doing this, we were able to install a straight Brooks 130 T700 LH stairlift, which offers the same reliability, smooth travel, and ease of use — but at a significantly lower price than a curved model.

This solution provides:

  • A safe, level landing for easy transfer

  • A clean, tidy installation that blends into the home

  • A straight stairlift instead of a curved one, saving the customer hundreds

  • A faster installation time with minimal disruption

  • A long‑lasting, low‑maintenance stairlift option

This project is a great example of how a step infill can transform a staircase layout and provide a cost‑effective alternative to a curved stairlift. Our team always looks for the most practical and affordable solution without compromising on safety or quality.

If you’re unsure whether you need a curved stairlift, we can assess your home and let you know if a step infill or straight stairlift could save you money while still giving you full independence on the stairs.
